The director of the consular department of the Foreign Ministry, Ivan Volynkin, expressed concern about the risk of a possible uncontrolled flow of refugees to Russia and Central Asian countries from Afghanistan. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

The diplomat added that Moscow and its partners are trying to track the movements of migrants from problem regions. He noted that there is no legally established mechanism for monitoring this issue in Central Asia, but information is exchanged between the ministries, institutions of the CSTO and the SCO,

Volynkin also said that so far the number of Afghans who illegally crossed the border can be considered insignificant.

In September, it was reported that Poland had introduced a state of emergency in the territories near the border with Belarus due to the influx of illegal migrants.

In August, Danish Immigration Minister Matthias Tesfaye expressed the opinion that refugees from Afghanistan should stay in their region and not go to Europe. He called for strengthening the protection of the external borders of the European Union and providing assistance to states whose borders form the external border of the community.

On August 26, it was reported that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow has not yet decided on a final position on the reception of migrants from Afghanistan.
