The authorities of the Central African Republic (CAR) confirmed the death of three Russians in the explosion of a mine. Russian Ambassador to Bangui Vladimir Titorenko told RIA Novosti about this.

"The CAR authorities notified us that three Russian citizens from among the instructors were killed as a result of the mine explosion," he said. According to available data, the incident occurred on May 28.

The incident was reported to journalists on May 30 by the official representative of the government of the CAR Anj Maxim Kazan. He said that three Russian allies and two CAR police officers were killed in the explosion, and there are also wounded.

Russia in December 2020, at the request of the CAR authorities, sent 300 military instructors to the country. It was specified that they would train the servicemen of the national army of the republic on the spot. At the same time, there was information that the CAR army began to help Russian mercenaries — they were seen 130 kilometers northwest of the capital of the republic of Bangui, along with mercenaries from Rwanda and representatives of FACA.
