The chairman of the Main Control Chamber (NIK) of Poland, Marian Banas, called on the prosecutor's office to open a criminal case against the country's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to him, in connection with the results of the audit on the preparation and organization of the presidential elections of the country, which were scheduled for May 10, 2020 using postal voting, a notification was sent to the prosecutor's office about the suspicion of committing a crime against the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as three other officials.
According to the chamber, the prime minister ordered the Polish Post Office and the Polish Securities Factory to prepare ballots and prepare for the postal vote, without having any grounds for this. As a result, a large amount of money was spent on printing. However, due to the fact that the parliament delayed the consideration of the law on voting by mail, this idea was abandoned. As a result, the elections were held in the traditional format.
In the second round of the presidential election in Poland, held on July 12 last year, Andrzej Duda won. He won 51.03 percent of the vote. His rival, Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski of the opposition Civic Platform — 48.97 percent.
