Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Ukraine's rejection of the Minsk agreements is already becoming the official position of the country. Her words on Thursday, April 29, RIA Novosti reports.
This is how Zakharova responded to the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about changing the format of the Minsk Agreements. In her opinion, there is nothing new in these statements.
"If such an approach dominates the negotiation process, which, in general, is already blocked by Kiev's persistent sabotage of the implementation of the Minsk Agreements in the form in which they were recorded, then it is not necessary to count on progress in resolving the conflict in the Donbas," the representative of the Russian foreign Ministry said.
At the same time, Zakharova stressed that the Russian side is confident in the existence of chances "for a way out of the current alarming situation."
Earlier, the adviser to the Kiev delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on the Donbass, Alexey Arestovich, called on Zelensky to discuss with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the modernization of the Minsk Agreements — in particular, the abolition of the circulation of the ruble in the Donbass. According to him, the restoration of the hryvnia turnover in the region is one of the points of the agreements concluded.
