The Starlink company intends to connect 500 thousand users to the satellite Internet in a year. This is reported by The Verge.

Quoting a fragment of the speech of the head of SpaceX, Elon Musk, at the Mobile World Congress conference, journalists noted that the entrepreneur hopes to connect half a million subscribers to the satellite Internet. "I think we are on the way to having several hundred thousand users, perhaps more than 500 thousand users within 12 months," Musk said.

Describing the future of the project, the billionaire said that Starlink has already signed a cooperation agreement with two telecom operators from "major countries", but did not specify its details. According to Musk, satellite Internet complements existing providers, and does not compete with them. "You have to think of Starlink as a way to fill the gaps between 5G and fiber and the idea of really getting to the most inaccessible parts of the world," said the head of SpaceX.

At the moment, Starlink is available to users in test mode, satellite Internet costs subscribers $ 99 or 6.4 thousand rubles per month. To set up the connection, the user must purchase a terminal worth another $ 500.

In mid-June, it became known that Starlink will develop a new product for fast Wi-Fi on board aircraft. The company is going to change the design of antennas and satellites to use them for aviation communications.
