An Indonesian Navy submarine that went missing off the coast of Bali could have cracked. This possible cause of the disaster was named by the Chief of Staff of the country's Navy, Admiral Yudo Margono. His words are reported by "Rossiyskaya Gazeta". He added that such damage is quite consistent with the enormous pressure exerted at the depths.

According to the official representative of the Indonesian Navy, Julius Wijohono, the diesel-electric submarine can withstand a depth of up to 500 meters, but a large depth can be disastrous for it. The pressure causes cracks and breaks in the steel casing.

Margono also noted that the Nanggala was clearly overloaded, as it was designed for 34 crew members, and at the time of the disappearance, it was carrying 53 people.

Earlier it became known that the submarine was found in the waters off the coast of the island. As noted, the Indonesian search engines managed to find the submarine when scanning the bottom of the Balinese Sea. It was spotted at a depth of about 850 meters.

The submarine KRI Nanggala-402, with 53 sailors on board, was conducting a torpedo drill when it stopped communicating. On April 21, traces of an oil spill were found near the island of Bali, where the submarine disappeared. And on April 23, an unidentified object with high magnetism was found near the place of the submarine's disappearance.
